My parents came to visit me this weekend. It was great seeing them, but every time we would go eat I told them I can’t eat rice or bread. And they thought I was crazy. I told them about Paleo, but my mom thought I was becoming a vegan, which am I not. I told them that being on Paleo makes me feel better and it’s healthier for me. Since I started Paleo I have tried so many new foods and started liking ones I didn’t before. How is something bad if it make you feel and look better.
We went to Chiptole and I ordered a bowl without rice or beans. The whole bowl still satisfied me and kept me full. For dinner I asked if I could have all veggies instead of rice. I felt better eating a bunch of broccoli.
It’s going to weird going home and not eat rice, my family is going to think I’m crazy and tell me to eat more. They think not eating rice won’t keep you full, but they’re wrong. I can’t wait to see what happens at home.
Too much eating at a period of time is bad for you. Take it slow while eating your foods, enjoy it. The body takes about 20 minutes to know its full. So some word of advice, eat until you’re ALMOST satisfied. I know, I know, you want to be completely satisfied. That is only because that is when YOU,not your body, feels satisfied. Sometimes you become waaaay too full after, no bueno! So try and resist the urge to keep eating! Have some water after a few bites, it’ll help.
Also if you’re constantly “hungry” there may be a problem. Feeling sad or stressed? That may be your problem. When you’re feeling sad or stressed something in your body triggers a part of your brain that says, HEY! I’m hungry eat some food! Eat everything! You suddenly get cravings for foods you shouldn’t have and then you just start scavenging for anything edible. A solution can be to exercise. Exercise is good for you! Clear your mind and make yourself a beautiful body. :D You’ll release some endorphins that can cheer you up! :] OR another way is to relax and meditate. Take a few minutes out of your day to get off your laptop/phone/couch and stop watching tv, to just lay or sit and meditate for about 10-15 minutes. This can really make you feel better. Just close your eyes, clear your mind, and relax. If clearing your mind is hard, find some relaxing tunes to listen to while you meditate, it really helps. Try to do it everyday and you’ll have a clearer mind and feel more energetic. I know we have busy lives, but try and just through in AT LEAST 5 minutes to your daily routines. It can benefit you in so many ways. So try these stress/depression reducing ways out, see how they work for you. Your body and health are ALWAYS number one on your list, don’t you ever forget that!
Three weeks in now! My cooking skills have gone up! I’m making wonderful dishes now. They are so yummy! Made more desserts too. I have found out you can make ice cream without an ice cream machine, it’s less creamy though, BUT still good! I’m in love with coconut milk now, it is so good! But too much is bad! So I must limit myself.
I thought it would be nice to add some cookie dough bits in my coconut ice cream… bad idea! I got a headache the next day! Those delicious candies have too much sugar for me changed body to handle. Had a horrible headache all day long. Now I know I can’t have large amounts of sugar.
About a week left of Paleo. But won’t end there! I plan on continuing, but in a different manner. Add a few foods I couldn’t have in there, but in small amounts. Of course I’m still leaving out grains, because I feel so great without them! Although I do want a sandwich sometimes, but that’ll be one of those cheat days.
I have been watching a lot of food and nutrition documentaries! They are so addicting and interesting. I have learned a lot from them. I am trying to limit the cooking of my veggies, because eating them raw is way more beneficial for you. People should watch more of these documentaries, because they are very educational and are very relate able to the society now. So I bid you a dieu! Good luck on your eatings! :]
I feel good! Making good tasting and looking food! Woo!! I’ve been working out here and there, and I’m pretty content with how the eating is making my body. I no longer feel that morning tiredness in class and afternoon tiredness. That’s good! I can’t wait to go home and check my progress and see if anything changed. I’ve been learning a lot about health and eating this past week. I love learning about these topics! I’m starting to influence my friends to eat healthier! Yay me! A step more towards becoming a nutritionist! Tomorrow is farmer’s market day at school! I can’t wait to buy my organic fruits from the nicest farmer! He’s so kind and funny, it brightens up my foggy and cold day! And also, starting tomorrow I will start buying veggies from the farmer’s market, I just hope it’s cheaper than buying it from Trader Joes. Of course I’ll still go there and buy veggies that they don’t sell and to buy some proteins! ( meats, poultry, and fish) A good 2 weeks so far. Two more weeks and I’ll see where it’ll all take me. I used the 80/20 for the week, one serving of potato or a potato like food is accepted. Since potatoes aren’t really accepted I made an exception to eat a little once a week, because for one thing I bought some sweet potatoes and thought they’d be nice to add to my meal and well I just want to try and leave the startchy-ness out of my meals. Just have a cheat every once in a while to keep yourself sane. :]
I never new this day would come so soon. I thought it would be when I was old. lol Ya know when you get old you tend to eat foods that you never cared for, but they are quite healthy for you. I always disliked tomatoes, onions, and almond milk. But now I loooveee tomatoes! I am even craving for tomato soup! I have never, ever wanted to drink tomato soup before, or even eat tomatoes by themselves. Tomatoes are oh so good now! :D Onions, oh my! I always picked out the onions that were in my food. The only exception were onion rings, because they were fried and it hides the flavor of the onion. Now, OMG I eat onions with all my meals! I have to! My favorite are when they are caramelized, yum! My favorite kind of onion are red onions. They are sweet when they’re cooked and that’s why I like them the most. And last but not least, almond milk. Probably the only reason that I disliked almond milk was because the first time I tried it it was homemade. I decided I would try and make some, boy was it a lot of work. It tasted very very nutty and kind of bland to me. It was also very thin and I wasn’t used to that since I drank regular milk. Since I’ve been on the Paleo diet I took out all the dairy in my diet. I barely started drinking coconut and almond milk last week. They were both amazing and soo addicting to drink. The flavor was just so good! But I knew too much was bad for me so I had to limit myself. So moral of this post, broaden your horizons and try new foods, you’ll never know what you’ll like. :]
A few days has past since I have started. So far I noticed that I have more energy, which is very good. Cutting out the grains really helped. On the downside though I’m getting cravings for things I shouldn’t have like nutella and oatmeal. My usual breakfast items. I’m still fine with my breakfast now. Eggs with veggies. Which I make pretty good, if I say so myself. xD I’m getting better at making all kinds of eggs. I have also gotten better at cooking, I think. I have broaden my horizons on cooking and baking. So far I’ve baked Paleo cookies, they were amazing, and I baked spinach chips and apple chips. Very good. Next on the list is kale, not a fan of kale but why not give it a try. With cooking, I’m hoping to make either cauliflower rice or mashed cauliflower. I have already made mashed sweet potatoes, it needs a little more flavor. I think that’s pretty much the start of my Paleo diet. I’m hoping to make at least 2 posts a week and hopefully some pictures up soon.
